Tasha Layton on Worship Through the Waiting: Faith, Family, and a Miracle

July 04, 2026

Tasha Layton sat down with Pastor Bobby Chandler on the "Believe The Impossible Podcast" for an honest conversation about worship, waiting, and the God who works in the in-between. The episode, "Worship Through the Waiting," premiered June 30, 2026, and finds the South Carolina native reflecting on the seasons that shaped both her faith and her music.

At the heart of the conversation is her family's miracle. Tasha shared that her husband had been told for more than eight years that he couldn't have children after a back injury as a teenager, and that doctors said she would need surgery and shots — in vitro wasn't even an option. Rather than making a list of resolutions one January, the couple felt God nudge them to "believe for something that actually requires faith." On a mission trip to Uganda, while Tasha led a song called "Miracles," her husband felt God heal his back. "I'm warm all over and I can't get it to hurt," he told her. Four months later, she was pregnant.

The reveal was as joyful as the wait had been long. Tasha bought nine pregnancy tests, watched every one come back positive, tucked them into a stocking to give to her husband, and the two sat in their living room and cried together for hours. Their two children are now six and eight, and travel with them on the road as a family.

For Tasha, that story is exactly what "worship through the waiting" means. Worship, she explained, isn't only a response to answered prayer — it's trust offered in the middle of uncertainty. She spoke candidly about long years of waiting for a spouse, a family, and a calling, and about a life that once looked scattered. She worked at a marketing company, served as an estate manager, and spent four years singing background for Katy Perry before God wove it all together. "He makes all things beautiful in their time," she reflected, describing how hindsight revealed His hand on the pieces she couldn't make sense of at the time.

That perspective runs straight through her best-known songs. "'Look What You've Done' is my life's testimony in a song," Tasha said, describing it as her answer to the accusations that whisper we're not good enough — a reminder that it's "not about what I've done or not done," but what Jesus already finished on the cross. She has also been open about writing "Into the Sea (It's Gonna Be OK)" out of her own hardest valley, trusting that the deeply personal can become universal. "When you write something so personal, it becomes very universal because people can relate to it," she said. Fans have since carried the song through grief, loss, and anxiety.

The full conversation — including reflections on family, mental health, and keeping her family together on tour — is available now on the "Believe The Impossible Podcast." You can watch the episode here and find more of Tasha's music at tashalayton.com.
