Tasha Layton Joins Aaron Williams for Live Worship Album Recording

Tasha Layton is joining worship artist and songwriter Aaron Williams for the live recording of his next album, set for August 25 at Bridge Church in Tennessee.

Williams shared the guest list this week, and it is a notable one. Cody Carnes, David Leonard, Mitch Wong, Tasha Layton, Aubrey Archibeck and Bridge Worship are all slated to lead alongside him for the night.

"Someone pinch me!!!" Williams wrote when he revealed the collaborators. "This list of friends I get to lead alongside next week is insane."

By his own account, the guest list is not a late addition meant to draw a crowd. Williams says shared leadership was baked into the project from the start.

"One of the visions for this project from the very beginning was to have a variety of collaborators be a part of it," he explained. "I have always loved leading with a team of leaders. It's beautiful to see the gifts each person brings to the writing room and to leading the Church."

That approach suits Tasha well. Her radio catalog includes "Look What You've Done," "How Far" and "Worship Through It" — songs that have traveled from playlists into Sunday morning services, which is exactly the kind of room this recording is built for.

The rest of the lineup brings a wide range of voices. Cody Carnes is behind modern worship staples such as "Firm Foundation (He Won't)" and "Run to the Father." David Leonard, formerly half of the Grammy-nominated duo All Sons & Daughters, has built a solo career on songs including "Good Lord," "Every Hour" and "Keep the Light On." Australian-born songwriter Mitch Wong adds another prolific writing presence, while Aubrey Archibeck and Bridge Worship round out the group.

Williams has spent his career writing songs meant to be sung by congregations rather than simply streamed. His best-known work includes "Abide," recorded with Mission House, along with "Walk By Faith" and "The Hope of Christ." Recording live, with worshippers in the room, is the natural next step for that instinct.

"Honored to have some of my favorite leaders on these songs!" Williams added. "I can't wait to see how they will each bring something beautiful and special to this project."

He is not inviting fans to watch an album get made. He is inviting them to sing on it.

"Come sing with us!" he wrote.

The recording begins at 6:30 p.m. on August 25 at Bridge Church. The song list has not been announced, and it isn't yet clear which guests will appear together on which tracks — but with this many worship leaders in one room, it's shaping up to be a night worth showing up for.
